Captain's Log (Layton 2006)

'Crash Bang Wollop!'

After our cup exit in the Bispham jungle our first visit to Layton for a couple of years proved almost fruitless. Only John Quinney got to grips with the green which was running like no other green seen by any of us this season. John Quinney was the only winner in the first half beating Blackpool's number one snooker player Steve Meakin. Peter Holden, Johnny Miller and Myself were all thrashed. It was a similar tail in the second half, but things looked a little better when Dave Thornton came back from 16-6 only to lose by a single point. Alan Steel, Gary Brash and Jim Cardwell were all beaten.

One point on the road in the last two weeks means pressure is mounting on us to start winning well at home. A couple of new faces next week may make a difference I am away and Gary Brash is in hospital. Ron Senior makes his debut and Jimmy McNight makes his first league appearance of the season. With things not going well a good result next week may make the Captain's choice the following week difficult !!!
